Digital Media Guideline for King RAMA IX’s Royal Cremation Ceremony.

Digital Advertising Association (Thailand) would like to issue the advertising guidelines during His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s the Royal Cremation Ceremony for the month of October 2017 as followed:


Digital Owned Media


1-27 October 2017
This includes websites, videos, contents or materials on online/digital/social platforms which will be created and published on 1-27 October 2017. The guidelines for the expression of condolences which must be applied to the aforementioned materials are as followed:
  1.  Apply grayscale (40%) to all elements on websites, videos, contents, ads on online/digital/social platforms OR
  2.  Adjust all elements or features to white-grey-black tones OR
  3.  Leave the colors as they are, but insert a text banner or an icon symbol at the top of the website or online/digital materials to express condolences


Depending on each establishment’s consideration and capability to carry out each option.


Digital Paid Media


1-12 October 2017


This period is for reminiscing of His Royal Grace. During this period, advertising is allowed on all online channels as usual; however, please keep in mind of respective decorum and follow the official regulations as announced by the Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).


13-24 October 2017


This period is the anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s death and the time for expressing condolences. While advertising is allowed as usual, all graphics’ color schemes should reduce the color level by 40%, and content should not contain humorous, hilarious content, sexual violence, or profanity and must follow the official regulations as announced by NBTC.


25-27 October 2017


This period is the Royal Cremation Ceremony of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Therefore, we request your cooperation in refraining from advertising during this time. However, display of the expression of condolences is allowed along with the name of the company or organization instead of logos. 


28-29 October 2017 onward


This is the period for going out of mourning after the Royal Cremation Ceremony of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Advertising is allowed during this period on the condition that the materials not contain inappropriately vivid colors or contents that refer to comedy, conviviality, violence, sexually suggestive themes or profanity. Please follow the official regulations as announced by NBTC.


The above guidelines by Digital Advertising Association (Thailand) are only general directions for respective decorum during the period of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Royal Cremation Ceremony in the month of October 2017 only. Please use according to your own discretion and be mindful of the material formats, the users’ feelings, and the general public.
